Rohde & Schwarz Demystifying EMC 2025 virtual conference provides expert insights on emission and immunity testing

01/29/2025

With a focus on going back to basics, the virtual Demystifying EMC 2025 event will feature sessions in two key EMC disciplines – emission and immunity testing. Taking place on February 11 and 12, Rohde & Schwarz will host interactive presentations and practical workshops providing step-by-step guidance on how to prepare for and perform electromagnetic compatibility measurements.

Arthi Krishnamurthy, EMC Segment Manager at Rohde & Schwarz will open the event of both days: “For DEMC 2025 we decided to go back to basics in order to demystify the discipline of electromagnetic compatibility testing. This event will enable attendees from around the world to network with the EMC community on essential topics in the industry today. As well as having access to the latest updates on CISPR, IEC, RED, ETSI, ISO and MIL standards, delegates will have the opportunity to explore new technology trends and developments in EMC testing. Whether you’re new to EMC or have been in the industry for a while, this is an event not to be missed.”

On the emission side, expert presenters will explore CISPR standard updates and testing challenges in IoT, medical, automotive, space and military applications. Sessions will include ‘Navigating EMC risk management for large safety critical medical devices’ by Rob Kleihorst, System Designer, EMC lead Image Guided Therapy - Systems, Philips Medical, and ‘Challenges for emission measurements in the modern automotive industry’ by Patrick Mayer, Product Manager EMI Receiver, at Rohde & Schwarz.

On the immunity side, attendees will benefit from discussions on IEC standard updates and conducted immunity testing as well as tips on troubleshooting test setups. A session called ‘Fundamentals of conducted immunity testing per MIL-STD-461’ will be delivered by Imad Qaddi, International Sales Manager and Product Manager, EMC Partner AG.

The session on ‘EMC Standards Update – IEC & CISPR’, presented by Dr. Ralf Heinrich, and Jens Medler; Product Managers at Rohde & Schwarz, will make staying at the forefront of EMC compliance easy.

Practical workshops including ‘Efficient emission testing with modern EMI test receivers’ by Tobias Gross, Product Manager for EMI Test Receivers at Rohde & Schwarz, and ‘A practical approach to bulk current injection (BCI) testing’ with Sean Lynch, National EMC Applications Engineer, at Rohde & Schwarz, will demonstrate how to set up and perform measurements step by step.

On day two, the keynote presentation titled: ‘EMC testing under dynamic driving conditions’ will be given by Zhang Xu, Platform Director, at CATARC (China Automotive Technology & Research Center) and will describe current international standards in the automotive EMC area, and new trends on emission and immunity testing requirements.

Other presentations over the two days include ‘Staying compliant: the EMC engineer's guide to equipment with radio functionality’ by Feng Xie, Juergen Kausche, from Rohde & Schwarz, in collaboration with Michael Derby, Technical Director for Regulatory Approvals at Element and ‘Multi-functional Tool for EMC labs’ by Nathan Reeve, EMC Product Manager at Rohde & Schwarz

Representatives Andrew Block from Stryker Medical and Maria Jimenez from INTA (National Institute of Aerospace Technology in Spain) will share their insight and expertise, while EMC specialists will be available throughout the event to answer questions.

The virtual DEMC 2025 event will be supported by in-person events that will take place around the globe. As an added bonus, everyone who attends both DEMC sessions will be entered for a chance to win one of 10 half-day EMC training events and laboratory tours held at the Rohde & Schwarz headquarters in Munich on March 24, 2025.
