National Instruments PXI Products Incorporated Into U.S. Navy’s eCASS Test Systems
09/10/2012
National Instruments announced that Lockheed Martin will integrate NI PXI modular instrumentation and platform products in the U.S. Navy’s electronic Consolidated Automated Support System (eCASS) automated test equipment family.
The eCASS test stations replace the existing CASS program as the U.S. Navy’s core test system for on-ship and onshore electronic subassembly diagnostics and repair. The NI PXI platform provides commercial off-the-shelf solutions for advanced engineering challenges and support for extended life cycle government programs.
The eCASS test equipment family features the new NI PXIe-1066DC chassis, which adds high-availability features to the NI PXI platform including hot-swappable, redundant cooling fans and DC power supplies. The eCASS family also incorporates more of NI’s latest PXI products, including new rugged, rack-mount controllers based on the Intel Xeon quad-core processor, PXI Express remote controllers, data acquisition modules, timing and multichassis synchronization modules and PXI high-speed analog output modules.
Additionally, eCASS test systems include NI’s new MXI-Express-based VXI remote controller for controlling the VXI subsystems that provide legacy CASS support. The new NI VXI-8360LT remote controller offers a new variable power-on feature and LXI bus triggering for easy system configuration.
The NI PXI platform currently includes more than 500 different software-defined PXI products. Because of PXI’s modular architecture, engineers and scientists can mix and match a variety of NI PXI products and control their entire systems with LabVIEW system design software, making it possible to address virtually any engineering challenge.
