Together, Rohde & Schwarz and Sony Semiconductor Israel (Sony) have achieved the industry’s first 3GPP Rel. 17 NTN NB-IoT RF performance verification. They have also successfully validated PCT-based test cases. Both milestones contribute to the market readiness of NTN NB-IoT technology. At the MWC Barcelona 2024, Rohde & Schwarz will show a live demonstration of NTN NB-IoT testing at the company’s booth with Sony Altair’s NTN Release 17 IoT device.

At the recent Conformance Agreement Group (CAG) #77 meeting, Rohde & Schwarz has successfully verified the NTN NB-IoT test cases of work item 333 using its R&S CMW500 radio communication tester, allowing the Global Certification Forum (GCF) to activate the work item in their device certification program. Manufacturers of IoT chipsets, modems and end devices as well as test houses can now rely on the proven Rohde & Schwarz solution to bring next-generation IoT devices based on non-terrestrial networks (NTN) to the market, enabling ubiquitous connectivity on land, at sea, and in the air.

Texas Instruments (TI) announced the expansion of its low-power gallium nitride (GaN) portfolio, designed to help improve power density, maximize system efficiency, and shrink the size of AC/DC consumer power electronics and industrial systems. TI's overall portfolio of GaN field-effect transistors (FETs) with integrated gate drivers addresses common thermal design challenges, keeping adapters cooler while pushing more power in a smaller footprint.
