Does the size of Sun change?

You know for sure that Sun looks bigger over the horizon than when it is directly overhead (at the zenith). The majority of people think that this is atmospheric optical effect. In fact the size of Sun doesn’t change during a day, this is illusion based on the fact that any subject looks bigger near a straight line than in open space.
